Virtualization

Virtualization is the process of creating virtual versions of physical computing resources, such as servers, storage devices, networks, or even entire operating systems. This is achieved by using software called a hypervisor or virtual machine monitor (VMM), which allows multiple virtual machines (VMs) to run on a single physical machine. Each VM operates independently, with its own operating system and applications, as if it were a separate physical device. Virtualization enhances resource utilization, simplifies management, and enables features like easy backups, system isolation, and the ability to run different operating systems on the same hardware. It’s widely used in cloud computing, data centers, and for development and testing environments.
